Slow Cooker Gourmet Sunday at Grandma's Pot Roast Stew

Grandma would be proud! Stew beef, new red potatoes and tomato sauce is all it takes to create this slow cooker classic!

1 1/2 cups new red potatoes, cut into 1/2" pieces
1 lb stew beef, cut into 3/4" cubes
1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
4 cups water
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
2 Tbsp dry red wine
 

Cooking Directions:

  1. Sort through and rinse the beans. Spread beans across the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Layer the potatoes evenly over the beans. Layer beef evenly over the celery.
  3. Sprinkle contents of spice packet (included) evenly over the top of the layered ingredients. Tuck the bay leaf down into the vegetables.
  4. Pour the tomato sauce over the spices.
  5. Pour water over everything. DO NOT STIR.
  6. Place lid securely on your slow cooker.
  7. Turn on your slow cooker and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 8-9 hours.
  8. 30 minutes before serving, add the salt and wine. Stir these into the soup and replace lid. Cook soup on low to complete. Remove and discard the bay leaf before serving. 
Serving suggestion: top serving bowls off with chopped green onions.

Very good flavor; like homemade. Cooked up nice & thick. Leftovers were even better. Used cubed London Broil as meat addition.
