Wine Barrel Gourmet - Northwest Harvest Red Wine Barley and Lentil Soup

Chewy barley and earthy lentils are a winning combination! Like all of Wine Barrel Gourmet's soups, Red Wine Barley and Lentil Soup has everything you want - a savory broth, lots of vegetables, and the heart healthy benefits of red wine. Perfect as is - JUST ADD WATER - or create your own version with added beef or mushrooms.

8 cups water
Cooking Directions:

Rinse and drain lentil mixture.

Add all ingredients to a large pot with 8 cups of water or broth.

Bring to a boil reducing heat to medium. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes or until barley and lentils are tender stirring often. Add more liquid as needed for desired consistancy.

Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes.

For enhanced flavor, add a splash of red wine to each bowl of soup.

Green lentils, pearled barley, red wine solids, tomato powder, onion, carrot, tomatoes, green beans, red bell peppers, muscovado sugar, herbs, kosher salt, garlic, onion powder, white pepper, celery powder.
