Alessi always provides a good amount of flavor in their soups, and this is well seasoned and has a good texture, not runny. I feel very satisfied when I have it. good for appetizer or meal. I often eat the whole thing for a meal.

I cooked a ham bone with a bit of ham on it for a few hours to make the stock - then added the soup mix, cooked carrots and a small amount of ham. It is fantastic!! The carrots and ham gave the soup more substance - the flavor was excellent and it particularly thickened once cooled and reheated. Will try the ham bullion (Better than Bullion Ham Base) next time so don't have to buy a ham!

the soup was watery and very salty tasting - prefer thicker soup and less sodium

Much, much, much better than I had even hoped. Canned split pea soups have become way to salty and yet flavorless. This was great, affordable, quick, and neither excessively salty nor at all sweet! Could be a little thicker and could have visible peas. I added a touch of chopped proscuitto for a meaty bite.

Great as is but when I'm really in the mood to do something extra, I saute some onions, portabella mushrooms, and chorizo sausage and add in the last 7 minutes. Try it. It is divine.

This is a great twist on traditional split pea soup, especially with the addition of pasta. I'm not usually apt to buy dried or canned soups but this is really tasty!
