Additions:

For Meat Marinade:
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oil (sesame or vegetable)
1/2 to 1/4 pound skirt or flank steak

For Sauce:
1 tablespoon oil (sesame or vegetable)
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
2 tablespoons each: soy sauce and brown sugar
6 ounces fresh snow peas, trimmed

Cooking Directions:

  • In medium bowl or Ziploc bag mix contents of sesame spice packet with brown sugar and soy sauce. Add steak and turn several times to coat. Allow to marinate 1 hour or refrigerate overnight.
  • In small saucepan, sauté contents of vegetable seasoning packet in oil 30 seconds. Add broth, soy sauce and brown sugar, simmer 15 minutes covered on low. Keep on low heat until read to serve.
  • Bring pot of water to boil. Add noodles, bring back to a boil and set timer for 6 minutes. Add snow peas for last 30 seconds of cooking time and drain together. Place noodles and pea pods into two or three bowls.
  • While noodles cook, preheat skillet or grill and sear steak on high 3 to 4 minutes first side and 2 minutes at medium on the second side. Remove from heat, and slice into narrow strips. Arrange steak on top of noodles and pea pods, spoon sauce over all and serve.
  • Optional: Garnish with wedges of lime or top with peanuts.

 

Inventive Soup Variations:

  • This dish may be chopped and chilled and served in butter lettuce cups for a salad for four.
  • Substitute chicken breast for the beef. Grill on medium heat 15-20 minutes. Slice and serve.
  • Substitute peeled shrimp for beef. Marinate only 30 minutes. Grill shrimp 2-3 minutes and serve.

we did not need to add anything else to their recipe. most of these soups need yo be tweaked to taste this good. this soup was great
