Enjoy the comforting flavor of this Organic Split Pea Soup. Seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and garlic, they’ve added tomatoes, parsley, carrots and onions to their green and yellow split peas to make this hearty soup a satisfying meal in itself.

1 (organic) ham hock
11 cups water
3/4 cup diced (organic) onion
 

Cooking Directions:

 
Rinse and pick through split peas.  In a large soup kettle, combine split peas and water.  Boil for 3 minutes and then remove the layer of foam that forms on top of water.  Add ham hock, onions, vegetable packet and soup base packet.  Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.  Remove ham hock and cut meat off of bones.  Add meat back to the soup and simmer for an additional 20 minutes, uncovered.

Green and yellow split peas, soup base (sea salt, maltodextrin, sugar, onion, garlic, spices, chicken broth (chicken stock, salt), whey, parsley, caramel color), carrots, onions, tomatoes.

Very good. I reduce the amount of water added by about 2 cups, as I find this soup a bit thin.

Excellent taste; the one thing I would add to recipe is to soak the peas for several hours before cooking.
