Maggie and Mary's Creamy Wild Rice Soup

Maggie and Mary's Creamy Wild Rice Soup won the prestigious First Place Award at the International Fancy Food Show. Mix includes chicken, wild rice, almonds, and a marvelous blend of vegetables.

Additions:
6 cups water
 
Cooking Directions:
  • In kettle, combine soup base packet with 6 cups hot water, blending well with whisk.
  • Add wild rice/vegetable mixture; blend well.
  • Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • For a thicker soup, simmer a bit longer with lid off.
  • To prepare in crock pot, cook 2 hours on high, stirring occasionally.
Variations/Additions:
  • Add in a drained can of mushrooms.
  • Splash in a dash of white wine.
  • Add 1/4 cup sherry prior to simmering.
  • Add cooked chicken.

Ingredients:
Base: Modified Corn Starch, Nonfat Milk, Dehydrated Chicken Meat, Canola Oil, Corn Syrup Solids Salt, Chicken Fat, Hydrolyzed Corn Gluten, Sugar, Dehydrated Onion, Disodium Inosinate and Disodium Guanylate, Dipotassium and Disodium Phosphate, Dextrose, Sodium Caseinate, Torula Yeast and Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Soy Flour, Xanthan Gum, Mono & Diglycerides, Natural Flavor (contains wheat), Turmeric Extract (added for color), Parsley, Spices, and Dehydrated Garlic. 
Rice: Cultivated Wild Rice, Carrots, Onion, Celery, Red Bell Peppers, Almonds.

This soup was terrific! I added chicken and 1/4 cup sherry. It was great the first day but even better the next. Great flavor and wonderful creamy texture.

Rich and creamy with real chicken and wild rice. I topped it with shredded cheddar and some chives and it was awesome!
