This is a beautiful and tasting dish. You can add to it whatever you'd like. It has all the ingredients to make a delicious Gumbo. If you're not from New Orleans and you don't know much about Creole cooking, and you like it, this is a great way to prepare it and share it with your family and friends. Anyone who has stated negative comments is ignorant and just not sophisticated enough to appreciate fine eating. I am of Creole heritage, and I can tell you this soup mix is an easy and splendid way to create your own Gumbo the way you'd like it. Bon appetit! ~ Dedicated to my father.

Many people here say the gumbo soup is no longer available in stores. I just came from Big Lots and they have boxes if it. I bought some......3 bucks a package.

Absolutely LOVE this gumbo! As others have stated, I hate that you can no longer find it in the stores. I even asked Publix to order it for me, but no luck. I add chicken, sausage, and sometimes shrimp. I've made gumbo from scratch and this mix is just as good. I love the convenience, 20 mins vs several hours... Give me Bear Creek every time! Just don't tell my friends... ;o)

Added some cajun sausage, shrimp, chicken, additional rice and okra as in directions. Fantastic Problem is that Publix, Winn Dixie and Wal Mart no longer carry the Gumbo

Bought some locally here in Tulsa at a BIG LOTS store. It is pretty much sold out now so I have a place to buy it again. It is wonderful !! I added okra, andoullie, and some shrimp. Just great. I don't understand why people add salt before tasting. Even though some packages say to add salt, ALWAYS taste first. Bear Creek soups are usually just right with no salt added. Bean soup is really good too.
