Additions:
3 - 14.5 oz cans beef or chicken broth
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 - 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
1/2 lb sweet Italian sausage
1 cup water
Cooking Directions:
Bring chicken broth, water, soup mix and cabbage to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low for 30 minutes. In a separate pan cook sausage until done. Cut into thin slices and add to soup pot. Add diced tomatoes and simmer for 15 minutes.
Variations/Additions:
Serve with a generous tablespoon of grated Parmesan or Romano cheese and a loaf of warm Italian bread.

My family loves this soup. I make it with low fat smoked sausage. I take it to potlucks and always get multiple requests for the recipe. No one believes this is a mix! Nicely seasoned but not what I would call hot or spicey.
